Deanie Anderson Community Environmental Award A $200 cash award will be presented to a community for its overall environmental program (public awareness/adult education; education in schools; cleanup; recycling and beautification) in honor of the late Deanie Anderson who served as President of Keep Nebraska Beautiful for 26 years. In addition to the $100 overall award, there will be award plaques presented to communities with the following population categories:

Youth Group/School Award A $50 cash award and plaque will be presented to recognize youth group or school efforts in promoting a cleaner and more beautiful environment through cleanups, beautification, recycling, etc. Awards will be given in the following two age categories:
Elementary (K-5)
Secondary (6-12)
School Recycling Award A special award, courtesy of Keep America Beautiful and the American Forest and Paper Association, to recognize school recycling programs will be presented to schools for initiating or enhancing a recycling program in the school. Entries must include pounds of each material collected and recycled from June 1, 2007 - June 1, 2008.
First Place - $200 cash award
Second Place - 100 cash award
Third Place - 50 cash award
Non-Profit, Civic and Community Organization Award A $50 cash award and plaque will be presented to a non-profit, civic or community organization for its efforts in environmental education programs, litter control, beautification, recycling, etc.
Business/Industry Award A plaque will be presented to a business or industry who has demonstrated substantial efforts to enhance the environment through reducing, reusing, recycling and beautification within the business/industry and their community.
"Grow Big Red" Award A plaque and a $50 cash award will be presented to an individual or group who has enhanced the environment through the planting of red flowers. Grow Big Red is a celebration of "The Good Life" and in honor of Nebraska's tradition of excellence in the environment and overall stewardship of the land.
Great American Cleanup Award A plaque and a $50 cash award will be presented to a neighborhood, school or other group for outstanding clean-up, beautification or recycling efforts during the month of April (Keep Nebraska Beautiful Month.)
Keep America Beautiful Affiliate Award Local Keep America Beautiful Affiliates will be honored with Gold, Silver or Bronze level awards..
Are You Eligible? Keep Nebraska Beautiful's Awards Program honors youth groups, schools, non-profit and civic groups, businesses, and local communities. To be eligible, a program must:
Have conducted activities, projects, programs pertinent to the specific award category being entered..
All activities must have taken place between June 1, 2007 and June 1, 2008.
Provide a separate Award Application for each category being entered.
The Award Application should relate specifically to the Award Category to which it is entered. Do not simply duplicate the same application for use in a separate category.
Everyone is welcome to enter an Awards Application for the Deanie Anderson Community Award and the Great American Cleanup. You may enter an award application in one additional category for a total maximum of three applications.
Send in the Awards Application to be postmarked no later than June 6, 2008.
