Social Media Specialist

Position Summary:

Keep Nebraska Beautiful (KNB) works to inspire Nebraskans to take actions that improve and beautify our communities.  Our goal is for every Nebraska community to be a clean, green, beautiful place to live.  To achieve this, we facilitate programs and educational opportunities that deepen the knowledge and desire of our residents.  Our Social Media Specialist will be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the KNB Social Media strategy in order to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts and increase funding.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build and execute social media strategy 
  • Create editorial calendars and messaging schedules
  • Generate, edit, publish and share regular content (original text, images, video or HTML) that creates awareness of Keep Nebraska Beautiful and its activities, builds meaningful connections and encourages membership and engagement
  • Set up and optimize company pages within each platform (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn) to increase the visibility of Keep Nebraska Beautiful
  • Work with other staff members to create messaging that promotes KNB programs and highlights accomplishments

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in social media marketing or as a Digital Media Specialist
  • Proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
  • Positive attitude, detail oriented, ability to multi-task and effective organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work independently 
  • Adequate knowledge of web design and web development; WordPress and Divi Builder experience preferred
  • Must be 18 years or older

Compensation and Hours:

  • The position is for 15 hours a week to be satisfied at your convenience unless otherwise instructed.  Some evening and event participation required
  • Scheduling will largely be self-directed, but will need to be posted a week in advance and include occasional office hours
  • Compensation is $13.00 per hour based on experience

Keep Nebraska Beautiful

Materials Exchange Program Associate

Position Summary:

Keep Nebraska Beautiful’s Materials Exchange Program helps divert waste-stream materials from Nebraska landfills by facilitating reuse and recycling matches between seekers and generators of such items. The Program Associate must be able to work during normal business hours, but is welcome to split their time between home and office (at least 8 hours per week) as long as they have a quiet space from which to make phone calls.

Program Associate Duties & Responsibilities include;

  • Reaching out to industry and recycling concerns across the state, in an effort to inform and increase participation in the program
  • Contacting existing participants to update info on existing listings and past referrals, as well as make new referrals, and add new listings when applicable
  • Working with the Program Manager to ensure consistency in meeting program and participant needs
  • Researching new markets and creative solutions that help participants match their material needs
  • Assist with maintenance of other KNB programs and events as needed

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Self-Motivated 
  • Proven relationship building and communication/customer service skills 
  • Data collection/reporting experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Compensation and Hours

  • The position is for 30 hours a week, to be served between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday
  • Scheduling will largely be self-directed, but will need to be posted a week in advance and include at least 8 hours a week in office
  • Compensation will be from $15.00 per hour based on experience
