What is the Sustainability Seal?
The Keep Nebraska Beautiful (KNB) Sustainability Seal recognizes businesses that weave sustainable practices into their daily work. It’s more than a certification — it’s a public commitment to protecting Nebraska’s environment and building a sustainable future.
Our judging process looks beyond checklists. It considers the real impact of your efforts, from reducing waste and improving energy use to using eco-friendly packaging and involving your employees. Each award highlights businesses that are making meaningful changes and setting an example for others to follow.
Why This Program?
Consumers today look for businesses that care about sustainability. Keep Nebraska Beautiful (KNB) created this program to celebrate those that lead by example and prove that profitability and sustainability can work together.
By recognizing these efforts, we hope to inspire other businesses across Nebraska to take action and create a ripple effect of positive environmental change. Together, we can show that sustainable practices strengthen our planet, our communities, and the success of local businesses.
Benefits of participating
Applying for the Sustainability Seal is quick and simple, about 15–20 minutes to complete. Even if not every action fits your business, every effort helps. Participants earn an exclusive window sticker that shows customers your commitment to sustainability. Your business is also featured on Keep Nebraska Beautiful’s website and platforms, giving you positive visibility among Nebraska’s growing community of eco-conscious consumers.

When your business earns the Sustainability Seal, you join a larger movement that inspires others across Nebraska to act sustainably. The program connects you with businesses that share your values. Together, you’ll find new opportunities to exchange ideas, share resources, and celebrate success. As a result, your participation strengthens both your community and our collective impact.
Program Expectations
To stay active in the program, participants must keep their membership with Keep Nebraska Beautiful. They should display the Sustainability Seal logo on their website or storefront and keep improving their sustainable practices each year.
After three consecutive years of continued growth, participants receive a special trophy plaque honoring their commitment to a cleaner, greener Nebraska.
